Robotics – Core Motor Controller (1)
It’s way more than building robots! The FHS FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. The two FHS Robotics Teams currently meet outside the school day. In order to address the needs of our students, the course – Robotics I – will be offered for the 2018-19 school year. Students will be able to design, build, program, operate, and effectively test their robots in the classroom setting while earning an engineering credit in the STEM endorsement area. By offering a robotics course, FHS will be able to increase the number of students and/or teams involved in the FIRST Tech Challenge competitions. It is the goal of this grant, to provide hands on, real world experiences for our students in the areas of STEM, computer science, and engineering using the tools and equipment of those fields. By participating on the robotics team and in the course, we hope to “facilitate student learning experiences to prepare future-ready students for a global society and prepare students for the college or career of their choice and seek excellence at the State and National level” (FISD District Improvement Plan).
